After starting with over 150 golfers, the U.S. Women's Amateur at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., is down to the final four.
Asterisk Talley, Rianne Malixi, Maria Jose Marin, and Kendall Todd will head to the semifinals with hopes of hoisting the prestigious trophy, likely earning an invitation to the 2025 Augusta National Women's Amateur, and likely exemptions into the Chevron Championship, AIG Women's Open, and Amundi Evian Championship.
The semifinals will be held on Saturday, August 10, and the final 36-hole championship match will be held on Sunday, August 11.
You can watch both the semifinal matches and the final match on Golf Channel from 3 p.m. ET to 6 p.m. ET.
Maria Jose Marin, 18, of Columbia
Marin defeated 2022 ANWA champion and rising Auburn sophomore Anna Davis in 21 holes, winning No. 18 to force extra holes. The medalist has also defeated Rachel Kuehn in the round of 32, the No. 1 ranked player in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings.
The rising sophomore at Arkansas is competing in her first U.S. Women’s Amateur and was a member of the 2024 International Palmer Cup team. She won the 2024 South American Women’s Amateur and posted seven top 20 finishes en route to winning 2024 SEC Freshman of the Year, including a win in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational and two second-place finishes. She reached the semifinals of the 2022 U.S. Girls’ Junior.
Asterisk Talley, 15, of Chowchilla, Calif.
Talley is putting together an amazing amateur golf season, and a win at Southern Hills would. With her quarterfinal win over 2024 NCAA individual champion Adela Cernousek, she is now 14-1 in USGA match play this season, winning the 2024 U.S. Women's Four-Ball and finishing runner-up at the 2024 U.S. Girls Junior.
Talley represented the United States in the 2023 Junior Solheim Cup in Spain and finished eighth in the 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur. She also won the 2024 Junior Invitational at Sage Valley and is a member of the USGA’s inaugural U.S. National Junior Team. This is her first U.S. Women's Amateur appearance.
Rianne Malixi, 17, of the Philippines
Malixi continues her hot summer and will look to become the second player (Eun Jeong Seong, 2016) to win the U.S. Girls' Junior and the U.S. Women's Amateur. She won the 2024 Women’s Australian Master of the Amateurs and was the 2024 Junior Invitational at Sage Valley runner-up to Asterisk Talley.
She was also the 2023 U.S. Girls’ Junior runner-up
Kendall Todd, 21, of Litchfield Park, Ariz.
The rising senior at Arkansas could set up a final of teammates if she and Marin both advance. Todd defeated Kelly Xu in 20 holes to advance to the semifinals. She won the 2024 Women’s Porter Cup and finished third in the 2024 Arizona Women’s Amateur. She was also the 2023 Arizona Women’s Match Play champion and logged four top 10 showings with the Razorbacks this past season.
