Scotland's Calum Scott leads amateurs after round one of The Open

After one round of the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland, Calum Scott leads the 12 amateurs after an even par round of 71. 

The Texas Tech standout is T18 and will look to chase the leaders on day two. 

Scott recorded four birdies and four bogeys, including a birdie on No. 18 to close his round.

Scott is currently ranked No. 14 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings. He recently made the quarterfinals of the British Amateur and finished in solo fourth place in the European Amateur.

He is playing in his first Open Championship.

Matthew Dodd-Berry, who earned his spot through final qualifying, also had a great day, shooting 1-over 72 as one of the last groups on the course.

Luis Masaveu is 2-over and T42, and Jamie Montojo is 3-over and T69.

Montojo started his championship with a bang, holing out for an eagle on the first hole from 132 yards out.

The 2024 British Amateur champion Jacob Skov Olesen is currently T96 at 5-over, and British Amateur runner-up Dominic Clemons is T120 at 6-over.

2024 Latin America Amateur champion Santiago De La Fuente is T129 at 7-over, 2024 Africa Amateur champion Altin Van Der Merwe is T138 at 8-over, and Vanderbilt star Gordon Sargent is tied with 2024 Asia-Pacific Amateur champion Jasper Stubbs at T145 and 9-over.

According to DataGolf, the cutline has a 15.4 percent of being 4-over, a 35.7 percent chance of being 5-over, and a 32.4 percent chance of being 6-over.
