Designed by Leon Howard in 1963, Morrris Williams
Golf Course features small, slightly elevated,
contoured greens. These features combined with the
rolling terrain probably make Morris Williams Golf
Course the most difficult of all of the City's courses.
Morris Williams Golf Course was named after Morris
Williams Jr., potentially the best golfer ever
developed in Austin. He won every trophy available
to him from the Austin area, as well as the Texas
Junior Championships to the National Air Force
Trophy now named in his honor. He lost his life as a
young man during the Korean war in a plane crash.
Morris Williams Golf Course served for many years
as the home of the University of Texas golf teams
under legendary coaches Harvey Penick and George
Hannon. During this time the Univeristy won 2 NCAA
Championships with teams that featured Tom Kite
and Ben Crenshaw.
