AUSTIN, Texas (Sept. 16, 2018) –
Peach Reynolds pulled away from the field during Sunday’s final round of the Austin Senior Championship with a 4-under 68 at Morris Williams Golf Course. That left Reynolds, an Austin resident, with a four-shot victory.
Reynolds had a slim one-shot lead at the start of the day after an opening 70. Reynolds didn’t make a bogey in his second-round 68, which made it nearly impossible for his pursuers to catch him, much less overtake him. Reynolds finished the event at 6-under 138.
Reynolds, 64, made match play at the 2013 U.S. Senior Amateur. He also played the Senior Amateur and the U.S. Mid-Amateur in 2011. His son Jay Reynolds won the Austin City Championship in 2015 at Morriis Williams after a back-nine 27 in the first round.
Peach Reynolds attended the University of Texas at Austin.
Chris Hartenstein was runner-up with a 2-under 142 total made up of back-to-back 71s. He won this event in 2016. Mark Bedillion, Craig Scott and Randy Reynolds tied for third at even par. All are from Austin.
Jaime Bearman, also an Austin resident, won the super senior division with a 3-under 141 total. Bearman’s final-round 3-under 69 was the lowest score of the day, and cinluded five birdies and two bogeys, all on the front nine.
