George C. Thomas designed this slice of
heaven as the Ojai Country Club in 1925 with
prolific California architect William P. Bell.
Today most of Thomas' highly acclaimed
designs -- such as Los Angeles Country Club,
Bel-Air, and Riviera -- are also highly private
but Ojai can be played by anyone who is
staying at the resort. (Check the website to
get availability for non-resort guests.) It's an
old school test at just 6300 yards, but when
they have the greens running fast you're going
to need the wedge game of Steve Stricker and
the touch of a surgeon to shoot a good score.
