OJAI, CA (August 15, 2018) - With three rounds in the 60's Samantha Hutchison finished 15-under and cruised to the California Women's State Championship title hosted by Ojai Valley Inn and Spa.
Hutchinson opened with her worst round of the tournament (worst is a relative term here), a 3-under 69, before carding a 5-under 67 in round two and a 7-under 65 in the third round.
The, reigning Big West Conference Player of the Year, Hutchinson heading into her senior year at UC Davis picked up her first career win as a junior when she captured the Battle at the Rock.
On Monday things didn't start well for Hutchinson as she bogeyed her first hole of the tournament, however that dropped shot proved to be her only blemish of the week. Over the course of the next 53-holes Hutchinson played flawless golf while birdieing 16-times.
Hutchinson capped her remarkable week off with a seven birdie day that included birdies on Nos. 15-17.
Cindy Oh (Cal) and Bibilani Liu (Boston College) shared second at 9-under, Aman Samgha (Portland State) was third at 6-under while Nicole Schroeder (Oregon State) and Caryn Wilson shared fifth at 5-under.
Of Note: Mina Hardin won the Senior Division by a stroke over Nanette Seman.
