Australian Master of the Amateurs: Three tied for the lead after the opening round

After the first round of the 2024 Australian Master of the Amateurs at Southern Golf Club in Keysborough, Australia, Max Moring, Zackary Swanwick, and Ngai Si are all tied for the lead after rounds of 5-under 67.
Moring, Swanwick, and Si lead the field by one shot, with Zachary May in solo fourth place at 4-under.
Nine golfers are T5 at 3-under, including 2023 Scottish Amateur Champion Oliver Mukherjee.
In the women's competition, Nika Ito shot a 5-under 68 to take a two-shot lead into the second round.
Four golfers are chasing Ito and tied for second place at 3-under.
The men's competition plays at a par 72, while the women's competition plays at a par 73.
The Master of the Amateurs, a 72-hole medal play Championship, has rapidly become one of the elite championships in amateur golf. Like The Masters, the champion receives a Green Jacket. Contestants participate in the first round of the championship with professional golfers in a unique Am-Pro Invitational.
The Master of the Amateurs winner gets an invitation to the Porter Cup in the U.S. Likewise, the winners of those two tournaments receive invitations to the next Master of the Amateurs tournament.
