Arizona Women's Open: Amateur Ailis Tribolet tied for the lead after opening round
Ailis Tribolet of Chandler, Ariz., is tied with Alice Duan of Frisco, Tex., at the top of the leaderboard at 5-under the Arizona Women's Open at The South Golf Course in Sun City, Ariz., as a part of the Cactus Tour. Both golfers shot a 5-under 67 to put themselves in a great position heading into the second round.
Tribolet recorded a bogey-free round with three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 No. 18 to get to 5-under. Tribolet is from an athletic family, as her father is a former MMA fighter, and her mom is a competitive triathlete.
After round one, other amateurs at the top of the leaderboard are Lauren Rios of Coppell, Tex., and Alyzzah Vakasiuola of San Tan Valley, Ariz., who are both T9 at 2-under.
Star amateur Yana Wilson of Henderson, Nev., is 1-under and T13, and Kaylee Chen of Parker, Colo., and Ali Mulhall of Henderson, Nev., are even par and T16.
