Cameron Neilson fought back from being four down with eight holes remaining to win the Scottish Women's Amateur on the 19th hole against Lorna McClymont on Sunday at Trump International Links on the outskirts of Aberdeen.

McClymont, who won the Irish Women's Amateur last month, went four up in the championship match against the Scot with wins on the eighth and tenth holes. However, with wins on the 12th and 13th holes, Neilson cut the deficit in half with five holes remaining.

Halves on the next three holes saw Neilson needing to win the final two holes to extend the match to extra holes; and that is exactly what she did.

Neilson, who plays collegiately at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, ended the match on the first extra hole to win the Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship in stunning fashion.

"I’d like to say I was very confident (heading to the 19th) but in all honesty, I wasn’t – it could have gone either way," said Neilson.

“This win is at the very top and it’s a very proud moment for me. Winning the Scottish Championship is just unbeatable in my opinion."
