Host Georgia earns Liz Murphey Memorial Collegiate Top-Seed

ATHENS, GA (April 7, 2017) -- After the opening round host Georgia has earned the top-seed at Liz Murphey Memorial Collegiate. The Bulldogs, playing at the University of Georgia Golf Course turned in a team 9-over tally to win by six shots.
The low Georgia round of the day came from Jillian Hollis who posted a 5-under 67 to take individual honors. Hollis, the winner by three, birdied five-times, dropped shots on two holes and also jarred an eagle two on the par-4 14th.
Two other Bulldogs finished in the top-15; Rinko Mitsunaga (T6; +1) and Harang Lee (T14; +4).
The top-five of the team qualifying was completed by Denver (+15) and Alabama (+15) sharing second, Arkansas (+16) in fourth while Oklahoma State (+22) and defending champion USC (+22) shared fifth.
In the individual standings Alabama's Kristen Gillman at 2-under placed second. Gillman is coming off her first college tournament victory at the Bryan National Collegiate less than a week ago.
Kaylee Benton (Arkansas) at 1-under was the final player under-par in third, Sophie Newlove (Denver) and Cara Gorlei (Arkansas) ended up tied for fourth at even-par.
