Dixie Amateur: Trent Wallace takes 36-hole five-stroke lead

CORAL SPRINGS, FL (December 20, 2016) -- It has been all Trent Wallace through two days of play at the Dixie Amateur. Wallace followed up his first round 7-under 65 with a 4-under 68 at Heron Bay Golf Club to reach 11-under and push his advantage to five shots.
Wallace, a sophomore at Illinois State, had his best finish this fall at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic were he tied for fourth.
West Virginia senior Alan Cooke is tied for second place with former Coastal Georgia player Trevor Smith at 6-under. Cooke has posted rounds of 68-70 while Smith has gone 70-68.
Pablo Torres-Hernandez is 5-under and in fourth while Evan Gfeller (North Greenville), Davey Jude, Joaquin Lolas (Florida State) and Axel Ostensson (USC Aiken) are tied for fifth at 3-under.
After play on Tuesday there was a 36-hole cut prior to the third round which will be played at TPC Eagle Trace before play returns to Heron Bay on Thursday for the final round.
