Cimarron Hills is a 2003 Jack Nicklaus design, laid out in the Texas Hill Country with plenty of live oaks, rocky streams and rolling terrain. Some of the live oaks are directly in the line of play at holes like the 2nd, 15th, 16th, and 18th, creating a visual challenge and forcing the player to control the shape of his shots. Cimarron Hills has a great variety of hazards: the fronting lakes at the 15th, 17th and 18th; the rocky stream beds at the 7th and 16th; the cross bunkers at the 5th and 8th; and the San Gabriel River which affects both the drive and approach on the par-4 10th. The club has a laid-back central Texas feel, with excellent practice facilities and a sub-100 yard 19th hole that can be used for settling bets after the round.
Cimarron Hills has quickly established itself as a championship venue, having hosted the 2004 Texas Mid-Amateur Championship and the 2004 South Texas PGA Section Championship.
