The Bear Invitational: Podzemny, Young win in playoff
GEORGETOWN, Texas (Oct. 26, 2008) -- After 36 holes, the top of The Bear Invitational's leaderboard was jammed tight, with three teams tied for first in the 54-hole, two-man best-ball tournament, and seven more teams within five strokes.
Things still weren't settled after Sunday's final 18 holes, but after a playoff, the team of Eddie Podzemny and Charles Young prevailed over teams of Mick Brethower and Brad Jones and Phil Thomas and John Perez at the Cimarron Hills Golf Club.
All three of those teams finished 36 holes of play at 1-under 141 and through 54 holes at 3-under 211.
In the first flight, Duane McGlauflin and Mike Shevlin found themselves tied with Johnnie Felps and Mace Brindley and Sam Baker and John Bamonte at 221.
Mike Watkins and Pat Baker won the second flight by a stroke at 233.
