Wine Country Cup: Ben Geyer leads by two
NOVATO, Calif. (Jan. 26, 2013) -- Ben Geyer, the 2012 NCGA Player of the Year and a senior at St. Mary's, fired a first-round even-par 72 and takes a two-shot lead into the final round of play at the 2013 Wine Country Cup at StoneTree Golf Club.
Geyer leads a trio of contenders tied for second, including Mac Marr, R.C. Orr and Dalan Regioglu.
Alex Bungert and Austen Sandoval are three shots behind after first-round 75s.
In total, there are five St. Mary's players in the top 10.
In the Senior Championship, Clifford Pearson is two shots up over Mike Parnow after shooting a first-round 76. Only three players broke 80 in the senior field.
Ton Lazaro (71) is one shot over Chris Ladd and Matt Sitler (72) in the Net Division. Lazaro was the only player to break par and there are four players within striking distance of the lead.
