LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 19, 2008) -- On a beautiful weekend at the Las Vegas Golf Club, Matt Edwards defeated a stellar field to become the 2008 Las Vegas City Amateur Champion.
In all there were 12 competitors under par, with Edwards' 138 (69, 68) total leading the way. Douglas Pool fired a final round 67, the lowest single round of the tournament, but it wasn't enough to catch the consistent Edwards.
Eric Conway carded a final-round 67 to lock up the Net Division Championship. His two day 138 total was good enough to hold off Las Vegas Golf Club member Chris Piper. (139)
Rich Morrison had a very impressive senior tournament shooting 71-72 on his way to the Senior Scratch Title. Frank Acker and Steve Johnson finished one shot back at 144.
John Orfe captured the Senior Net title with a two day total of 138, outdueling Bill Spencer who shot 69, 70 net respectively.
