Mirabel Ting of Florida State heads into the weekend at T44 and 2-under at the 2024 Maybank Championship at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club’s West Course.
This is a no-cut event, so Ting will be playing on Saturday and Sunday.
After an impressive 5-under 67 in the first round, but a 3-over 75 in the second round saw her fall from T11 to T44. She recorded three bogeys, a double bogey and two birdies.
She was 5-over through 14 holes after a double bogey on No. 14, but birdies on Nos. 15 and 17 coming into the clubhouse saw her finish strong.

She got off to a hot start, birding four of the first five holes to propel up the leaderboard immediately. She is T11 heading into the second round.
She made birdies on holes No. 1, 3, 4, 5, 14, and 18 with just one bogey, the par-5 No. 10. Ting is ranked No. 51 at the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings.

Florida State University standout Mirabel Ting is set to make her highly anticipated LPGA debut at the 2024 Maybank Championship, held at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club’s West Course. This week’s Maybank Championship marks the third stop on the LPGA’s fall Asian swing. It also serves as a return to familiar turf for Ting, who has previously competed on the West Course, though her experience at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club has primarily been on the East Course. Known for her powerful ball-striking, Ting has focused on refining her short game as she prepares for this challenge against the world’s best.
“I feel confident in my long game,” Ting added. “It’s the short game where I’ve been putting in the extra hours. It’s about sharpening up my up-and-down play and staying consistent on the greens.”
The 2024 Maybank Championship follows the dramatic conclusion of last year’s event, where Celine Boutier defeated Jeeno Thitikul in a nine-hole playoff. Ting will be competing in a field that includes several of the LPGA’s top players, such as Hannah Green, who won the recent BMW Ladies Championship, and Ruoning Yin, the Buick LPGA winner.
