George Saunders wins West of England Stroke Play Championship

George Saunders of Liphook Golf Club in the United Kingdom shot 10-over 294 following rounds of 79-74-72-69 to win the West of England Stroke Play Championship at Saunton Golf Club in Devon, England.
Rory Browne of Feldon Valley and Archie Christophers of Stover Golf Club both shot a matching total of 16-over par, securing a joint runner-up finish at the tournament. Browne carded rounds of 75-80-77-68, while Christophers shot 79-74-75-72 to achieve the feat.
Saunders played his collegiate golf at VCU and Tennessee and is currently ranked No. 1,268 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings. Saunders recently finished in solo fourth place at the Hampshire Salver.
Saunders entered the final round trailing Jack Dart of Churston Golf Club by five strokes, as Dart held the lead at 7-over 220. However, Saunders surged ahead with a brilliant 2-under 69 against Dart's 10-over 81, securing victory by a six-shot margin over the rest of the field.
The tournament saw participation from 117 golfers, of which 40 made the halfway cut.
