After finishing off a stellar 2023, Miles McConnell has picked up 2024 right where he left off.

After finishing in solo second place at the 2024 New Year's Invitational, McConnell shot a 3-over to win the 2024 Gateway Senior Invitational at The Club at Gateway in Fort Myers, Fla.

McConnell shot rounds of 71-75-73 to win the invitational by two shots over Todd Mudge, who finished in solo second place at 5-over with rounds of 69-76-76.

The scores skyrocketed in the second and third rounds as the wind came in and created difficult conditions for the field.

Kevin Vandenberg, who won the Plantation Senior Invitational last week, finished in solo third place at 7-over. Bryan Rodgers, John Barry, and PJ Murphy finished T4 at 8-over.

McConnell finished T4 at the 2023 Gateway Senior Invitational, won the 2023 Florida Senior Amateur, made the match play of the U.S. Senior Amateur, and finished in solo third place at the British Senior Amateur. He also finished T15 at the Jones Cup Senior and played in the U.S. Senior Open.

Super Senior Flight

Stephen Fox won the Super Senior Flight by four shots, finishing at 2-over with rounds of 72-77-69. The 3-under 69 Fox shot in the final round was one of the four only under-par rounds of the flight, three of which came in the final round.

Stephen Sharpe finished in solo second place at 6-over, recording rounds of 75-74-73.

Fox entered the final round tied at 5-over with Michael Arter and Greg Goode, but a final round 2-over 74 from Arter saw him finish T3, and a final round 3-under 75 from Goode saw him finish T5.

Richard Kerper finished T3 with Arter, and Tom Baird finished T5 with Goode. A final round 1-under 71 by Baird saw him propel up the leaderboard.

Legends Flight

Don Kuehn was able to put together the most impressive three-round score of anyone in the invitational, finishing at 2-under with rounds of 70-75-69. Kuehn was the only golfer in any flight to shoot two rounds under par.

Kuehn entered the final round three shots back of John Hudgins, but a final round of 2-under 69 from Kuehn consisting of five birdies and two bogeys propelled Kuehn past Hudgins after a 2-over 74. Hudgins recorded four bogeys and two birdies.

John Armstrong finished in solo third place at 3-over.

Super Legends Flight

Jack Marin secured the win in the Super Legends Flight by two, finishing at 3-over and recording rounds of 69-75-75.

John Osborne finished in solo second place at 5-over and Frank Polizzi finished in solo third place at 7-over. Plizzi and Marin were the first round leaders after round of 3-under 69, but a second round 3-over 75 for Marin compared to a 6-under 78 for Polizzi gave Marin a comfortable lead.

James Rollefson finished in solo fourth place at 8-over and George Owens finished in solo fifth place at 9-over.
