Caitlyn Macnab of Ole Miss shot a stellar 5-under 65 final round to win medalist honors by four shots

The South Carolina Gamecocks secured the No. 1 seed for the match play portion of the 2025 SEC Women's Championships at Pelican Golf Club in Florida. 

The Gamecocks controlled the championship throughout, going wire-to-wire and growing their lead as the rounds went on. They took a 14-shot lead into the final round of stroke play and finished 16-under to win by six shots. 

They shot rounds of 266-274 to get to 20-under and earn the commanding lead, and a final round 4-over 284 closed the door on the field. 

LSU earned the No. 2 seed, Texas the No. 3 seed, and Ole Miss the No. 4 seed.

Caitlyn Macnab earned the individual medalist honors in the individual competition after shooting a stellar 5-under 65 final round. The Ole Miss standout carded rounds of 68-68-65 to get to 9-under and win by four shots. 

MacNab is currently ranked No. 16 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings.

It was a tough day for the 36-hole leaders, as Eila Galitsky of South Carolina shot a 3-over 73 to fall to T5, and Hannah Darling shot a 4-over 74 to fall to T7. 

Rocio Tejedo of LSU, Taylor Riley of LSU, and Farah O'Keefe of Texas finished T2 at 5-under.

Pelican Golf Club is hosting the championship for the second straight year.

With stroke play now concluded, the top eight teams will advance to the match play quarterfinals on Thursday morning.

According to South Carolina Athletics, the Gamecocks have made match play in all six years of the new format, dating back to 2018, with a pair of title match appearances.

Last season, South Carolina earned the No. 1 seed for match play after shooting 3-under in the stroke play portion. The Gamecocks were the only team in the field under par in stroke play, led by senior All-American Louise Rydqvist, who finished as runner-up medalist thanks to a 54-hole total of 7-under. Senior All-American Hannah Darling shot 2-under to finish T6.

Both players were First-Team All-SEC selections last season.
