Entering the final round at the Danish Stroke Play Championship, the men's side seemed to be determined while the women's championship was up for grabs.
However, it didn't exactly turn out that way.
Emma Bunch and the local Marie Eline Nielsen had used the good conditions to put themselves far ahead of the other competitors, both with a score of 5-under, and it, therefore, looked like a close match between the two.
Bunch answered with an early eagle on hole No. 4, putting the pressure on Nielsen right from the beginning.
Nielsen never could bounce back despite small openings along the way.
Bunch ended up winning by four shots even despite a bogey on the last hole, taking a comfortable victory with a four-stroke margin and a winning score of 8-under.
Bunch played an impressive round on Saturday, a 5-under 67, which was also a new course record on Viborg Golf Club's yellow/blue ribbon course. With the victory, the rising sophomore at New Mexico State adds to her impressive summer with her second amateur win.
On the men's side, Adam Sondergaard Pedersen went into the final round with a lead of two strokes – not least thanks to a phenomenal round on Saturday of 7-under 65 seven strokes under par. Among other things, via an insane eagle on the ninth hole, where he holed his blind trick from an opposite fairway.
On Sunday, Pedersen started fast with birdies on his first two holes, and it looked like he might pull away. However, Emil Elkjaer Peterson came from a few groups ahead of the lead groups to post a 6-under 66 for his final round.
Thus he had largely caught up with the lead, and Adam Sondergaard Pedersen needed a par on the 18th hole to avoid a replay.
He kept his nerves calm and was able to mark the victory with a fist pump when the putt for just par found the bottom of the hole and was subsequently able to allow himself to be congratulated by his girlfriend, parents and friends.
