The Georgia Bulldogs made the hour-long drive from Athens down U.S. 441 to Eatonton and came away with the team title of Linger Longer Invitational, which was held at the Great Waters Golf Course.
The Bulldogs, ranked 13th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, pulled away from 13th-ranked Vanderbilt over the final 18 holes to claim its first win of the season.
Georgia and Vanderbilt were tied at 20-under after 36 holes of the tournament, but the Bulldogs' final round of 8-under 280 proved to be the difference in securing a four-stroke win over its SEC rival.
Senior
Trent Phillips' final round 66, which included an eagle on the par-5 18th hole, paced the Bulldogs final round charge on Tuesday. Phillips birdied four of his first six holes on the day and turned in 34. He was 2-under on his inward nine before rolling in an eagle on his finishing hole.
Georgia also counted rounds of 71 by
Maxwell Ford and
Buck Brumlow along with an even-par 72 by

Clemson's
Jacob Bridgeman earned medalist honors with a tournament-record score of 16-under 200 (67-66-67), finishing six shots clear of Phillips while Van Wyk placed third at 8-under 208.
