Crout and Liebler go wire-to-wire at SC Senior Four-Ball

SANTEE, S.C. (September 9, 2018) - Heading into the final round of the 45th Annual SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship, first round leaders Rick Crout and Steve Liebler looked to stay consistent in the final round.

Staying consistent is exactly what they did.

After an opening round of 66 and starting the day with a one shot lead over Jim Burgess and Steve Horton, Crout and Liebler steadily compiled six birdies for the second straight day to capture the 2018 SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship with a two-day total of 133.

The duo of Byron Beck and Billy Hoylen made a second round charge with a final low round score of 64 to take second place with a two day total of 134.

In the First Flight, Walter Odiorne and Holley Wallace claimed top honors after a second round 67 and a two day total of 139.

In the Second Flight, Leonard Brooks and Jim Skeele made a big jump to the top of the flight following up their first round 76 with a final round of two under par 70.

In the Third Flight, there was a three way tie for first between the teams of Ty Balkcum and Nils Lindbloom, Fred Hyde and Bob Wamboldt, and Randy Johnson and Joe Padgette - each team shooting two day totals of 152.

The 2018 SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship was played at the par 72 – 6,369 yard Santee Cooper Country Club. The field consisted of 58 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty six holes. The Senior Better Ball Championship is in its 45th year of existence.

ABOUT THE South Carolina Senior Better-Ball

The Senior Better Ball Championship is an opportunity for good friends to get together and enjoy a weekend of golf at one of the area's finest facilities - Santee Cooper Golf Club. With a better ball format and teams broken into flights after the first round, competition is available at all levels of ability.

A 10:00 AM shotgun start on both days also means that participants won't be spending their entire day on the golf course. Come join us in one of the longest running Senior events in the SCGA Championship series.
