EAST AUROA, NY (June 30, 2017) - International Junior Masters winner Danny Gianinny was 1 down after 14 holes but a birdie, eagle, birdie run propelled Gianinny to a 2&1 victory over Billy Watson.
"It's my biggest win ever," Danny Gianinny told the Buffalo News. "It's an unbelievable feeling."
Playing at East Aurora Country Club Gianinny used same late dramatics to capture the title.
All-square on the 16th hole, Gianinny took his first lead of the match when he chipped in for an eagle from the rough before sealing his victory with yet another chip in on the ensuing hole from 25-feet.
Gianinny, who lost in the Round of 32 last year as the No. 2 seed, defeated Eric Shea 2 up while Watson bested Spencer Jenkins 2 up.
With the win Gianinny earns a spot in the 2017 Porter Cup.
