TALLAHASSEE, FL (February 12, 2017) -- With a 9 under final day host Florida State ran away from the rest of the field as they claimed the Seminole Match Up by 10 shots. Playing on their home track, Don Veller Seminole Golf Course, FSU finished the week 27 under and comfortably in front of runner-up South Carolina (-17). For Florida State it was their fourth win in six starts this season.
Continuing the momentum she established last fall when she won her first collegiate event, Morgane Metraux captured the medalist title. The junior was stellar on Sunday putting together a 4-under 68 day that pushed her to 11 under and three-strokes clear of three players tied for second.
Starting the day as the leader by one, Metraux got off to a quick start with a first hole birdie, the first of her five. However, despite an impressive round from beginning to end Metraux did need some late birdies to affirm her place on the top of the leaderboard.
Following her only bogey on the 10th Metraux rebounded in a big way with consecutive birdies on the 12th and 13th holes before solidifying her victory with an 18th hole tweeter.
Part of the second pace tie was Metraux's teammate Lydia Gumm who finished 8 under and she was joined in the top five of the individual standings by fellow Seminole Matilda Castren (T5; -6).
The reminder of the second place group included Maddie Szeryk (Texas A&M) and Ana Pelaez (South Carolina). Texas A&M's Bianca Fabrizio joined Castren at 6 under and in the tie for fifth.
Behind Florida State and South Carolina it was third place Texas A&M (-14), fourth place Oklahoma (E) and fifth place Missouri (+12).
