SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (June 5, 2016) -- Simi Valley's own Brandon Kewalramani captured his city's championship on Sunday at Simi Hills Golf Course.
Kewalramani, a student at Harvard Westlake, held a two-shot lead over Tim Hogarth entering the final round after opening with a 6-under 65. Hogarth withdrew from the event before the final round, however, giving Kewalramani a bit more breathing room. A 1-under 70 for a 135 total was enough to take the title.
He ended up with a four-shot victory over Eric Kim who rallied to a shoot a 5-under 66 and post 139. Jesse Arian (La Crescenta), Tim Snyder (Thousand Oaks), and Brandon Shin (North Hills) tied for 3rd place at 140.
In the senior division, Hawthorne native Bob Valerio took the title, 21 years after he won the Championship flight. Valerio shot an even-par 142 for the event which topped Dave Crawford (Camarillo) by two shots, followed by last year’s winner, David Eberstein (Granada Hills) at 148.
