Dal Poggetto Adds Another Win at AGC Monterey Bay Championship
Daniel Dal Poggetto
SEASIDE, Calif. -- Daniel Dal Poggetto came from behind Sunday to win the amatergolf.com Monterey Bay Championship hosted by Bayonet Golf Club.
Dal Poggetto, a native of Petaluma, Calif., fired a final-round 73 which was the low-round of the day as steady rain made the already difficult Bayonet course even more challenging. First-round leader William Aldred struggled to an 80, leading Dal Poggetto and Ben Doyle to battle it out for the title. It came down to the last hole and a five-foot putt for par.
"I didn't know exactly where I stood but I had a feeling that was a very important putt," said Dal Poggetto.
Dal Poggetto calmly stroked it in, capturing his second win in his last two amateurgolf.com events, the first coming at the Wine Country Cup.
La Jolla native Ben Doyle finished 2nd after rounds of 71, 74.
Senior/ Net
Jeff Britton captured the senior title after rounds of 74, 82 for a 156 total. Although he didn't have his best stuff Sunday, his first-round 74 gave him a solid cushion to make a few mistakes.
Lyle Covino edged Korsen Yu by one shot in the net division after rounds of 80, 77.
