Santa Clara takes National Invitational; Voke and Morantes share Medalist Honors

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Santa Clara held off a late-charging New Mexico squad to capture their first victory of the season at the National Invitational.
The Broncos fired a final-round 281 (7-under) to turn in three straight rounds under par and an 18-under par total. New Mexico also played well in the final round with a 280 (8-under) but fell six shots short of Santa Clara's mark.
Hayden Shieh played a major role in Santa Clara's success, opening with a course-record 62 to jumpstart his team. He followed it up with two rounds of 72 for a solo third place finish.
The medalist honor was shared by Iowa State's Nick Voke and New Mexico's Gustavo Morantes who each finished which a total score of 205 (11-under). Voke's performance was highlighted by a second round 65 which led him to his third win of his career.
