Eddie Kenny wins Palm Beach Mid-Senior
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — Eddie Kenny of South Palm Beach added to his growing list of Palm Beach County Golf Association titles Sunday by winning the 12th annual Mid-Seniors Championship at Quail Ridge Country Club.
Kenny, of South Palm Beach, outdueled two-time former champion Frank Babusik of Jupiter, 70-71 to win by a stroke, 139 to 140, on the North course. It was Kenny’s eighth PBCGA victory, including five last year when he earned the county Player of the Year honors. They had been for the first round lead with Craig Howell of Lake Worth, who closed with 76-145, tied for sixth.
“Frank bogeyed the first two holes so it was pretty easy after that,” Kenny said, “until I made a double bogey at the 14th hole,” when his second shot from the rough hit a tree branch and dropped straight down.
Four of Kenny’s six birdies were on par-5s. “I hit a lot of good wedges and a lot of good lag putts,” Kenny added.
