Mark Cobey
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The first round of the Memorial Amateur saw low scores from a wide variety of players, with former Jesuit High School golfer Mark Cobey posting 65 to lead by one.
Cobey, who will be a sophomore at Cal State Fullerton next year, leads a trio of players at 66, including Josh Sedeno, Peter Griffith, and Luke Vivolo.
Defending champion Cameron Champ, a soon-to-be sophomore at Texas A&M, is two strokes behind Cobey with an opening-round 67.
In total, 14 players are at even-par or better at the par-70 track.
The 54-hole championship concludes Monday at Ancil Hoffman Golf Course in Sacramento, and AmateurGolf.com will have live final round coverage from the course.
