Gina Clark defeats Mika Liu in Jones/Doherty Amateur final

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Former San Diego
State golfer Gina Clark beat 15-year-old Mika Liu
of Beverly Hills in Saturday's Jones/Doherty
Women's Amateur final, 3-and-2.
The match sealed Liu's second loss in the
tournament's final in the last three years, as the
2014 Women's Western Amateur winner was
runner-up in 2013 to Kelsey MacDonald.

Liu's path to the final went through medalist and
No. 1 seed Samantha Smolen, a Lynn University
senior whom Liu knocked off in the quarterfinals.
Clark upended notable mid-amateur player Tara
Joy-Connelly of Massachusetts 2-up in the
semifinals.
The event was the third in a string of women's
amateur events held each January in Florida
known as the "Orange Blossom" circuit, with the
Harder Hall
Invitational and
Southern Atlantic
Amateur taking place over the previous two
weeks.

ladies events in Florida, with an illustrious list of past
champions

Goetze, Charley Hull and Lexi Thompson.
Tournament
consists of two divisions (Women's and Senior
Women's) playing an 18-hole qualifying for
match play flights in each division as follows:
