Coral Ridge Country Club was founded in 1954 by golf’s most innovative architect, Robert Trent Jones, and his wife, Ione. The development of the land that the club now stands on started with the construction of the Florananda Golf Course which began in the 1920’s but was halted when the stock market crash in 1929 forced the board members to give it up. In 1954 Mr. Jones saw an opportunity in the unfinished course and devised a plan to mold the land to his intricate specifications.
Construction for Coral Ridge Country Club began in September of 1954 and the club was soon opened in February of 1955 with Mr. Jones as President. He had a vision of a true, traditional private club with a challenging, championship course. Over the years, the classic Robert Trent Jones golf course has remained the core of the club, drawing accomplished players and beginners alike. However, the clubhouse has expanded over the years to accommodate an increasingly active Membership.
