McMahon medals at Arizona Amateur
Alex McMahon
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (August 12, 2014) — After 36 holes of stroke play qualifying, Alex McMahon of the University of Arizona earned the 1st seed honor with a six under par 138 (72-66).
Three players were one stroke off, shooting 139, including Jake Argento, David Metz, and first-round leader Brian Blanchard.
Possible thunderstorms have been the norm for the past two days. A 90-minute delay on Monday resulted in having to stop the first round due to darkness. Two groups had to come back early this morning to play their final hole.
Skies threatened on Tuesday, but the lightning stayed away until the very end of the round. All players finished; however, there were seven players tied for four remaining spots in match play. That playoff will take place tomorrow morning beginning at 7:00 am.
The known oponents will commence their matches first thing tomorrow morning beginning at 7:00 am.
