FCWT National Championship: Halvorsen prevails

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (May 27, 2014) -- Andreas Halvorsen of Norway (2015) took the early lead in the Boys 15-19 division of the FCWT 2014 Tour Championship then spent the rest of the weekend trying to protect that lead from various charges from other junior golfers.
Ultimately at the end of 54-holes, Halvorsen, who was named the Boys 15-19 division East Region Player of the Year at Friday night’s Awards Dinner, earn the title with rounds of 69-73-71-213.
Halvorsen finished at three under par for the tournament, one stroke ahead of Philip Barbaree of Shreveport, LA (2017). Barbaree carded two eagles on Monday, posted a final round of 70, and finished just one stroke back of Halvorsen.
Four players tied for 3rd place at 216: Andrew Alligood of Saint Johns, FL (2015), Alvaro Escalada of Spain (2015), Garrett Barber of West Palm Beach, FL (2018), Shrish Dwivedi of Redwood City, CA (2015). Other notable final rounds: Charlie Kennerly of Jupiter, FL (2016) finished with a 2 under par 70 to earn 9th place. Jimmy Hervol of Hopkinton, MA (2015) and Jordan Gumberg of Ft. Lauderdale, FL (2014) each finished with a round of 1 under par to earn 10th and tied for 11th respectively.
Reese McFarlane of Cape Elizabeth (2015) posted a final round of one under par 71 to finish T22. Anthony Truony of Vietnam (2016) also finished with a one under par which earned him 31st place.
Fourteen-year-old Frankie Capan of Saint Paul, MN (2018) came to play this weekend.
Capan, who finished tied for 9th at the 2013 Tour Championship with rounds of 78-77-78, brought his A game to the 2014 Tour Championship. On Saturday, Capan fired a two-under par 70 which gave him a four stroke lead.
On Sunday, Capan extended his lead by firing a 68. Monday’s final round saw Capan fire a 3 under par 69 to finish at 9 under par for the tournament, winning the 13-15 division. (70-68-69-207) Jake Kuwitzky of McKinney, TX (2018) posted his lowest round of the tournament on Monday, a 72, which earned him 2nd place.
Teddy Tetak of Slovakia (2018), who fired a 70 on Sunday finished in third place at 222. Bennett Perrine of West Windsor, NJ (2016) finished in 4th place at 225 followed by Will Grevlos of Sioux Falls, SD (2018), who earned the Boys 13-15 division Central Region Player of the Year at the Awards Dinner on Friday night.
