When he was three years old, Kent first picked up a club when his Dad handed him a plastic driver and let him whack away before shooing Kent to hide behind a tree when his father's friends teed off. It led to an incredible fairway wood game out of bunkers, but that's gone to the wayside like his collegiate amateur career at Chapman University. Following a triple bogey on the third hole for the first time playing Tilden Park, I hit a 9 iron into the uphill green and didn't see it land. My group mates in the tee in front of me saw it land two yards in front and roll home.
