Royal Oaks Inv.: Ryan Fery prevails
VANCOUVER, Wash. (June 9, 2013) -- Former professional Ryan Fery fired a final-round 72 to prevail at the 2013 Royal Oaks Invitational at Royal Oaks Country Club.
Playing in his first event since regaining his amateur status, Fery entered the final round tied alongside Jesse Heinly and James Hall. Heinly, a golfer at Xavier shot 73 while Hall finished with a closing 74.
Fery's 72 was good enough to win over the group of elite collegiate players.
Heinly shot rounds of 70-72-73--215 (1-over) to take his position in second place ahead of Hall (71-71-74--216).
John Wise of the University of Washington shot a final-round 72 to sneak into fourth place.
Cal red shirt Andrew Morgan was one shot off the lead entering the final round but shot 76 on Sunday to take fifth.
The Royal Oaks Invitational Tournament is a three day, 54-hole individual stroke tournament that features many of the top amateur golfers from around the Northwest.
The tournament is comprised of three divisions, the Championship Division, the Junior-Senior Division, and the Senior Division. A player can be the Grand Champion of the tournament playing from any of the divisions, because everyone plays from the same set of tees.
