Rhys Pugh wins Welsh Stroke Play
MONMOUTHSHIRE, Wales (May 27, 2013) -- RHYS PUGH laid down a marker for selection for this summer’s Walker Cup by winning the Welsh Open at Royal Porthcawl, now he hopes to build on that form following his return from a successful end to his US college campaign.
He clinched the Welsh title against the challenge of other Walker Cup hopefuls, helping to put his name down for the team which will try to defend the trophy in New York in September.
Vale of Glamorgan player Pugh emerged onto the international scene in dramatic fashion in the last Walker Cup, winning all three of his matches to help the GB and Ireland team to victory.
