Jay Burlison leads AGC Monterey Bay
SEASIDE, Calif. (May 25, 2013) -- Jay Burlison of Salinas opened with a 1-under 71 at Black Horse G.C. on Saturday to take the first round lead at the amateurgolf.com Monterey Bay Championship. Burlison will shortly graduate from Palma H.S.
The past champion of the Callaway Junior Worlds has committed to No. 1 ranked Cal for Fall of 2013. Nick Moore of Seaside trails by a single shot after posting an even par 72. Two players are tied at 73 and with the difficult Bayonet G.C. (home of "Combat Corner") on the docket for Sunday, anyone within 6 shots of the lead has a legitimate chance.
Tom McKee of Carlsbad and Jeff Van Harte of San Carlos posted 79 to pace the Senior Division, while Joseph Cho of Monterey (net 68) leads Net Players. Two of those players, Peter Beers and Elisabeth Hofwegen, traveled all the way from Glimmen, The Netherlands.
