NCAA Southeast: Florida maintains lead
T.J. Vogel
By Cassie Stein, Golfweek
T.J. Vogel is in the lead at the Baton Rouge Regional after Friday’s second round. He hasn’t had the best of spring seasons.
After finishing the fall with an impressive T-7 finish or better in all four events for the Gators, Vogel had surgery in December to repair three hernias and eliminate groin pain.
Since his return from surgery, his best finish was T-22 at the Chris Schenkel Invitational. His scoring average over those tournaments was a 73.86 over a five-tournament stretch.
Not great numbers for someone’s resume as good as Vogel’s. At Florida, Vogel has 18 top 10s. He also picked a victory at the 2012 U.S. Amateur Public Link Championship, which ultimately allowed him to play in the 2013 Masters before missing the cut.
A win here would put the rest of his spring season in the past.
