Havemeyer Invitational: Saladino wins it

BAY SHORE, NY (May 11, 2013) -- Joe Saladino prevailed over Ryan Barnett, 5-and-4 in the championship match of the 2013 Havemeyer Invitational at Southward Ho.
Saladino, seeded No. 2 after stroke-play qualifying, defeated Mark Reilly 2-and-1 to reach the final match.
Barnett moved on when top-seeded Hal Berman withdrew.
Berman advanced after after wins over Paul Adimando and Gil D'Andrea Jr.
Barnett moved on with wins over Bradley Rock, Jr. and Thomas Gallagher.
Saladino rolled past Matthew Esposito, 5-and-4, and took down Russ Aue 6-and-4.
Reilly is in the semifinals with wins over Todd Kozlowsky and No. 3 Dan Goldstein.
In the Senior Division, Craig Maerki defeated top-seeded Ron Vanelli 5-and-4 to win the title.

Regional event played on Southward Ho, a A.W.
Tilinghast-designed course that was bailed out by
Horace Havemeyer during the Depression era. Since
1951, the Havemeyer Invitational has attracted top
metropolitan region amateur golfers to compete at
Southward Ho in a three day event. 18
hole qualifier establishes match play contestants in
both championship and senior divisions.
