Robinson, Moore win Calif. Medal Play titles
and Mid-Am Champ Nick Moore
"The Gauntlet" was far from it for the 2013
Mid-Am
Champion Nick Moore. After making a 9 on the
par 5
6th hole (a hole yesterday he eagled) he
thought his
chance at victory may have been thwarted.
But
the
30-year old caddy at Cypress Point took the
hardest
3-hole stretch in the valley (holes 16-18) and
tamed it
with three consecutive birdies to finish his 74
in
style
and win the Mid-Am division by one over David
Ober.
Playing with the red-shirt Junior at
St.
Mary's Cody Robinson, for the overall
championship,
Moore's birdie on 18 put some pressure on
Robinson's
2 footer of his own for birdie. He made the
putt
and
the captured the overall victory with a 75-
70=145
total. Robinson had 4 birdies and an eagle (11)
in his
Sunday round.
The net flight was capured by Korsen Yu who
went 66-
68 to win by 16. The Senior victory went to
"Mr.
Fresno" -- Doug Johnson with an 80-77 157
total.
