Top seeds move on at Salinas City Amateur
SALINAS, Calif. (March 19, 2013) -- Top seed Drew Nelson is through the first two rounds of match play at the 2013 Salinas City Amateur at Salinas Fairways.
Nelson fired a 69 to lead all golfers in stroke-play qualifying and has continued his strong play with an opening-round, 5-and-3 victory over Jay Burlinson and a defeat of Caleb Carter in 21 holes to reach this weekend's quarterfinals.
No. 2 seed Sean Dyer is also into the quarterfinals. He knocked off Mike Gilliard, 4-and-2 in the opening round and beat George Schultz, 3-and-2 in the Round of 16.
Jeff Britton, the No. 4 seed and a regular on the amateurgolf.com circuit, reached Saturday's quarterfinals with a win over Louie Garcia, 3-and-2. He beat Jack Tardieu in the first round.
No. 3 Steve Donnely is through, too. he beat Nick Fowler 1 up and moved on again with a win over Bob Walker in 19 holes.

matches each day with a 36-hole final match for the
Championship flight and
an 18-hole final for all other flights (Senior/Super

second of the two weekends.
