McCoy, Morris tied for New Years Invitational lead

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Jan. 3, 2013) -- Lee McCoy and Blake Morris both fired first-round 69s and lead at the 2013 New Year's Invitational at St. Petersburg Country Club.
Morris and McCoy lead a pair of golfers, Patrick Grahek and Joshua White, by one shot ahead of second-round action on Friday.
Richard Donegan, Michael Johnson and Brandon Ng are two shots back.
All told, there are 12 players within three shots of the lead at one of the offseason's top events.
The event features many of the country's top NCAA and upcoming elite amateur golfers. Stanford-bound Jim Liu, No. 20 in the Golfweek/amateurgolf.com U.S. Player Rankings is five shots back after a first-round 74.
In the mid-am division, Matt Giovanelli and Andrew Kennedy are tied for the lead after shooting identical 73s.
Stuart Sierra leads the Senior Division by two shots after an even-par 72 to open play on Thursday.

The 2025 New Year's Invitational Champion will earn an exemption into the LECOM Suncoast Classic, a Korn Ferry Tour event.
