Much of the country may be covered in snow but that won't stop the amateur golf schedule from slowing down.
The 2013 amateur golf season kicks off in a big way across the country with some of the nation's top amateurs taking aim at various winter events.
The 2013 Copa de las Americas begins Thursday and runs through Sunday as teams of men and women from the many nations that make up North, Central and South America battle for the cup.
The event, which is scheduled for every other year, will be contested at Doral in Miami. Team USA consists of U.S. Amateur champion Steven Fox and Washington Huskies star Chris Williams and Lindy Duncan and Erynne Lee on the women's side.
Other top amateur men will take aim at the New Year's Invitational in St. Petersburg, Fla. High-level amateurs Dominic Bozelli and Jim Liu headline a star-studded field converging on St. Petersburg Country Club.
The other key event taking place on a national level is the Harder Hall Women's Invitational. One of the year's best women's fields will do battle Thursday through Sunday at Harder Hall Country Club in Sebring, Fla.
And, of course, the amateurgolf.com 2013 Tournament Series will kick off its schedule this weekend with the San Diego County Amateur at Aviara Golf Club.
