Pine Needles-Mid Pines Sr. Open: Ed Donlin low am
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (Oct. 31, 2012) -- Amateurgolf.com Member Ed Donlin fired rounds of 76-74--150 to take low amateur honors at the 2012 CPGA Senior Open at Pine Needles-Mid Pines.
Windy conditions due to Hurricane Sandy turned the 36-hole event into a much more challenging event than usual. Historic Pine Needles held up to the storm's wrath, however, in Round 1 as eventual champion Rick Lewallen, a professional from Kannapolis, NC, fired a 2-under 70. The second round was played at Mid Pines with Lewallen firing a second-straight 70 for the overall title.
