RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. (Oct. 12, 2012) -- Lynne Cowan put a scare into the eventual U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur champion Meghan Stasi in their 21-hole Round of 32 match earlier this week. To warm up for her run at the Mid-Am, Cowan brushed up on her match play skills with a win at the 2012 Northern California Women's Match Play Championship held at Rancho Murieta Country Club.

Following a Round of 64 performance that included six birdies, Cowan led Stasi by five with six holes to play. The now four-time Mid-Am champion and former Curtis Cup player put together a monumental comeback and defeated Cowan in 21 holes.

In the match, Cowan reeled off four birdies in a row to take the advantage over Stasi and looked as though she'd be knocking off a potential favorite en route to a memorable week.

At Rancho Murieta, Cowan took medalist honors during the stroke-play qualifying portion of the event, firing a 70. Her top billing held up throughout match play, including the championship match where Cowan won over Sandy Wooduff.

Other flight winners included Sally Tomlinson, April Carlson and Karen Price.
