Scott Harvey holds lead at NC Mid-Am

ROCKY MOUNT, NC - Second round results of the 19th North Carolina Mid-Amateur Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Benvenue Country Club in Rocky Mount, NC on Saturday, September 15, 2012 (6558 yards, par 36-35—71, 71.8/137).
Number one ranked amateur in the Carolinas, Scott Harvey of Greensboro, NC, holds a narrow one stroke lead over 2009 North Carolina Mid-Amateur champion Paul Tucker of Waxhaw, NC.
Harvey stands at even par 142. Defending champion, Brian Westveer of Charlotte, NC posted a four-over 75--150 and stands tied for 21st place. Chuck Tickle of Raleigh, NC hit the shot of the day with a hole-in-one on the par three 145 yard second hole which is his fifth career ace. The field was cut to the low 60 scores and ties for the final round. The cut line fell at 17-over 159 with 64 players advancing to Sunday.

North Carolina Mid-Amateur Championship is open
to
any male amateur golfer who has reached his 30th
birthday, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a
member in good standing of a club which is a
member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and
has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at a
CGA member club that does not exceed 5.4.
Sectional qualifying is required in the weeks before
the championship unless exemption criteria is met.
54-hole stroke play event with a cut to the low 60
and ties after 36 holes.
