West Virginia Sr. Am: Jackson makes move
WALKERSVILLE, W.V. (Aug. 25, 2012) -- Williamstown’s Steve Jackson made a strong move during the second round of play, shooting a 1-under-par 71 on Stonewall Resort’s challenging Palmer course– the only player in the field to score under par for the 36-hole stroke play portion of the Championship.
Hurricane’s Harold Payne was the Runner-up in the Championship division, also after making a comeback today, shooting 1-over-par for a 36-hole total of 153. Martinsburg’s Jim Carpenter won the Silver division, finishing 76-78–154, while Hunginton’s Charlie Stone won the Gold division after going 82-74–156. Match Play competition will run Friday through Sunday. Defending Champion, Steve Fox, earned the number two seed for last year’s victory.

Entries are open to male amateur golfers with an
active GHIN Handicap index through a WVGA
Member
Club, and who are 50 years of age or older by the
first
round of Championship. The tournament will be 36
holes of stroke play qualifying followed by match
play.
Thirty-two players will advance in the Senior
Division,
16 players will advance in the Silver Division, and 8
players will advance in the Gold Division.
