Harvey leads Carolinas Amateur at 5-under

CHARLOTTE, NC (7/13/12) - The second round of the Carolinas Amateur Championship has completed play. Afternoon rain and lightning delayed the second wave as players were called off the course for 1-3/4 hours. Play resumed at 6:30pm when an opening in weather no longer presented threatening skies.
Defending champion Scott Harvey, Greensboro, NC carded a 1-under par 70 to lead the field with a total score of 137 (5-under par). Following closely, just 2 strokes back, is the duo of Jordan Walor, Wake Forest, NC and Stefan Brewer, Charlotte, NC.
The field was cut to the low 60 scores and ties for the final two rounds. The cut line fell at five-over par 147. 61 players qualified for the final two rounds at Charlotte Country Club in Charlotte, NC.
The 2012 Capers Cup club team competition was won by Raintree Country Club with a score of 432 represented by Stefan Brewer, Patrick Loeffler and Zachery Munroe.

Carolinas Amateur
The championship is conducted at 72 holes of stroke
play. After 36 holes, there is a cut to the low 60
scores and ties. Entry is open to any male amateur
golfer who has reached his 13th birthday by the first
day of the championship, is a legal resident of North
Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good
standing of a club which is a member of the CGA
and
has an active GHIN USGA Handicap Index at a CGA
member club that does not exceed 9.9.
The Frank F. Capers Cup Team Competition is held
during rounds one and two of the Carolinas Amateur
Championship. Three or four bona fide members
from the same club comprise a team. The low three
scores count each round.
Format changed from match play to stroke
play in 2010.
