So. Carolina Amateur: Moore leads on home course
BLYTHWOOD, So. Carolina (June 13, 2012) -- Caulder Moore of Isle of Palms, SC shot a 67 and holds the outright lead after the first round of the South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship at Cobblestone Park Golf Club.
Moore, a member of the University of South Carolina golf team leads fellow Isle of Palmer Jackson Moore and Gaffney’s Adam Goins by one shot. Two golfers are two shots back, including recent South Carolina Four-Ball co-champion Walt Todd, Jr.
“This course is USC’s home course so I am very familiar with it,” said Moore, “I have played it many times so hopefully that will help.”
The competitors will play a second round of stroke play before heading into the match play portion of the championship. The top 32 qualifiers will advance. Defending champion Mark Joye was unable to defend his title this year.

South Carolina Amateur Match Play
Championship format is 36 holes of stroke play to
determine 32 qualifiers for
match play. The defending champion is seeded
number one
for match play if otherwise eligible.
Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has
reached his 13th birthday, is a legal resident of
South Carolina, is a member in good
standing of a club which is a member of the
Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at
a CGA member club that
does not exceed 7.4.
