CARROLLTON, Ga. (June 13, 2012) -- The quarterfinals are set at the Georgia Women's Match Play Championship and eight of today's matches were won by the higher seed at Sunset Hills Country Club.
In Thursday's first quarterfinal match, Anna Buchanan of Athens will face Nikki Crowley of Phenix City at 8:30 a.m. Match two will see Caitlin Watts of LaGrange take on reigning five-time GSGA Senior Women's Player of the Year Brenda Pictor of Marietta at 8:38 a.m.
Jackie Rajek of Suwanee will meet eight-time Georgia Women's Match Play champion Laura Coble of Augusta at 8:46 a.m. Rounding out the Championship flight, Sydney Needham of Villa Rica will go up against Amira Alexander of Alpharetta at 8:54 a.m.
The 'final four' is set in the Tournament flight and Ellen Connors of Sharpsburg will square off against Jean Dawson of Suwanee Thursday at 9:02 a.m. In the flight's second match, sisters from Marietta, Holly and Clarice Cannon, will take on one another at 9:10 a.m.
The Championship flight round of 32 and round of 16 matches took place Wednesday, as did the first round and quarterfinals of the Tournament flight. Quarterfinal and semifinal matches for the Championship flight will be contested Thursday, June 14, along with the semifinal and final matches of the Tournament flight. The Championship flight final will take place Friday, June 15, at Sunset Hills Country Club.

Senior Women's Match Play Championship
qualifying;
if
a division doesn't fill, more players may be added to
the other division for stroke play qualifying and
additional match play flights
36 holes of stroke play qualifying followed by match
play for the low 32 players; the low 16 qualifying
scores will comprise the Championship Flight; the
remaining 16 players that make the cut will be
seeded
into a Tournament Flight based on qualifying scores.
